Vegan Chai Almond Latte – It’s sugar- and dairy-free!

Chai Almond Latte

By Chef Katie Mae

Makes 16 ounces (two 1-cup servings) | Ready in 3 minutes | Stores 4 days in fridge

INGREDIENTS

  • 3–5 Medjool dates, pitted
  • 2 cups water
  • ½ tablespoon almond butter
  • ½–1 teaspoon Chai spice (I use my Caffeine-free Chai Spice)
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract or ¼ vanilla bean (optional)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Add water to a small pot over medium-high heat. Add pitted dates. Once water is boiling transfer it to a blender.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Pour into a mug and enjoy.

CHEF'S NOTES

If you start with hot water, you can simply add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until creamy.

My preferred form of vanilla is the whole vanilla bean. With a high-powered blender, like the Vitamix or Blendtec, it will be completely blended. Without a high-powered blender, you may want to scoop out the center of the vanilla bean, or use vanilla powder or extract.
